Born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1976, Tyler Bohm has spent a number of years abroad, pursuing an interest in foreign languages, history, and design.  After receiving a BA from Kenyon College in 1999, Bohm lived in Moscow, Russia and later, Oxford, UK, where he received a Master's of Philosophy from Oxford University in 2002.  While in Russia, he pursued his interest in Russian art and architecture while working for an American NGO.  In the UK, Bohm worked for the London-based theater company Fat Beast Productions designing posters and fliers.  Beginning in the fall of 2002, he moved from small scale pen and ink drawings and digital art to larger scale mixed media works. This more recent body of work focuses on modular, networked structures that reflect his interest in language and industrial design. These newer pieces employ CAD software and laser cutting technologies, techniques he adopted while working for a major international design firm. His work has been shown primarily in Columbus, with three solo exhibitions at 2co's, Elements of Art, and Acme Art Co. in recent years.
